Muse Gone Wild

At one point, I wondered what would happen when I finished writing all the books I had planned. Would I have any more ideas for new stories? I know now that was a foolish question. Last week I told you about a co-worker giving me an idea for a new book.

A few nights ago, I tossed and turned into the wee hours because I had a title and blurb running through my head. I wasn’t able to sleep until I wrote it down. This one, however, is going to be tough. The story is totally out of my wheelhouse. I mean, seriously. I’m going to have to write it under another pen name . . . if I manage to write it at all. My muse has a twisted sense of humor, and she’s driving me crazy. It’s going to be a short trip.

I need to focus on my WIP. I’m at a crucial part of the story. The last thing I need is my thoughts to be filled with this new kid haunting me. It’s distracting to say the least. I’ve got so many irons in the fire already; promoting my latest release, participating in the Reviewer Roundup with all three of my Kindred books, revising A Demon to Kill, and working on the current WIP. I don’t think my brain can handle anything else. My muse has a different idea, apparently.

So, I called my brainstorming partner, F. J. Roberts. This guy’s brain never shuts down. His muse makes mine look like a cute little puppy. I read him the blurb and told him my problem. He solved it immediately. Merge it with the other new one. Make it paranormal. Make it your own. I thought about it. The lightbulb went on. Problem solved. It still has to wait, but I know what to do now.

Until next week,

~ Madison
