My Life as a Writer

I find myself in that frenzied process of shifting gears some writers go through. I think I may strip my transmission before I’m done. Right now, I’m promoting the release of one book, preparing for the next one’s release, while working on the one that comes after that. It’s not easy keeping up.

Let’s not forget the GDPR Compliancy Policy that’s hitting everyone. I’m not exempt. Because of my newsletter, I had to send out their form to make sure my subscribers wanted to stay on my list. On top of that, Amazon is being nasty, removing reviews. Yes, they got to me too, just not as harshly as some. It’s frustrating, making me wonder why I try so hard. Well, there’s nothing I can do about Amazon, so I’m focusing on what I can do.

I spend a lot of time on my days off posting teasers and buy links to Facebook groups and blogger’s pages. I find it encouraging that I’m pushing A Destiny Denied yet selling more of Phoenix Rising. That’s good, though. Readers are going for book one of my series. Hopefully, they’ll like the first one and continue with the others.

To Kill A Demon is with my editor, and I’m feeling pretty good about it. She’s given me praise about a story that isn’t in her general wheelhouse as a reader. I put together a video trailer the other day for the book, which I thought came out pretty good. Next step will be teasers for promoting. Since Demon is urban fantasy, they’ll be a little different from my usual steamy romance type.

Then there’s book four of The Kindred series. Blindsided is coming along, though a bit slower than anticipated. I figured with an outline, things would speed up, but I didn’t take into consideration the characters and the details. These guys have a story to tell and they insist on telling it their way. One of them has been holding on to secrets for a long time and getting them to spill isn’t that easy.

As always, it will eventually fall into place. I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing.
