Inspiration, the Writer's Muse

Happy New Year! I hope 2019 has started out on the right foot for you. Maybe it was because I worked through the holiday, but it seemed like just another day to me. Regardless, I hope this year proves to be better than the last one.
I was recently interviewed for a newspaper feature and asked a question most writer’s face. “Where do you get the ideas for your books?” My standard answer is that I dream them. Which is where I got my catchphrase, ‘Weaving Dreams into Romance’.
As I was going over Blindsided one last time, I realized I needed a blurb for the next installment to be added at the end of the book. To my consternation, this was going to prove difficult. I have no idea what's going to happen in the last book of my Kindred series. Once again, my dreams saved me. I woke up yesterday with the story unfolding in my head. I had to write down what I could, so I wouldn’t lose any of the details. Ten minutes later, I had the blurb. A few more minutes to polish it, and it was done.
Sounds easy, right? Not so much. A lot of writers are plotters. They know where their story is going every step of the way. Me? I write strictly by the seat of my pants. When the story comes to me, I write. If it’s not in my head, I’m staring at a blank screen. So far, I’ve been lucky. I’m hoping my luck holds. As soon as I get Blindsided wrapped up and ready, it will be time to turn my attention to Deuces Wild. I’ve got the general idea, now I have to turn it into a story.
Until next week,
~Madison
