In the Limelight (or Five Minutes of Fame)

A few weeks ago, I was interviewed by a staff writer for the local newspaper. Last weekend, the article was featured in the LA Style section of two papers, the Houma Courier and the Daily Comet (of Thibodaux). My thanks to Scott Yoshonis for writing such a flattering article on me.

Not only did I gain a lot of recognition through social media, but also from friends and co-workers. A few knew I’d been writing, but not to what extent. Others were surprised to find out what I did on my days off from work. Yes, Virginia, I do have a life outside of work.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t flattered and delighted with the article. Everyone enjoys a little recognition for the work they do, even if it is a labor of love, more than anything else. Mr. Yoshonis was honest with me when he told me that romance was not his genre of choice. I wouldn’t expect otherwise coming from a man. Nevertheless, he enjoyed reading Heart of Stone. That was high praise, indeed.

I’m taking my five minutes of fame and enjoying it for what it is. Advertising. A marketing tool, and a darn good one, too. Yes, I framed the article. Who knows if it will ever happen again? And, that’s okay, too.

You can read the article in its entirety here: HOUMA COURIER

Until next week,
