Coming to the End
I finally typed notes for the last installment of my Kindred series. It’s not exactly plotting. It’s more a way of keeping track of everyone. The Kindred deal with quite a few characters in addition to the two main couples the particular book is about. This one is no different. In fact, there are more people than ever to keep track of because a lot has happened in the last four books. This one is not only the main story line, but the culmination of everyone else’s stories, too. It’s a lot. I have to do it just right to make it balance.
To be honest, I should have already started on it. I keep putting it off. I know, last week I was eager to get started. Today is a new day. I'm weird like that. Yes, I’m in the middle of editing another book, but that’s an excuse. When I start on Deuces Wild, it will be the end. I’m not sure I’m ready for it. Does that make sense? I’ve written other books that had their happy ever after. But this is my first series. And now, it’s coming to a close. I know I’ve mentioned this before. Bear with me. I’m dealing with a lot of emotions about my writing. Did I mention I was weird like that? When I finish this book, I’ll be saying good-bye to characters I’ve grown to love. It’s not easy to let go.
I will, though. I’ll write other books. Maybe not another series, but there will be other characters who catch my fancy along the way. I got an idea for another story today. If that one sees the light of day, it will be totally different from anything I’ve written so far. We’ll see what the future brings.
Until next week,
