Writing in a Virtual World

Was planning on updating my website… I really need to give it a makeover but that’s a big job and I haven’t worked myself up to it yet. While there, I found my latest blog had been written in May of this year. That was an eye-opener. I’ve been neglecting both blog and newsletter because there was nothing new or big to talk about.

And that’s not true at all. I’ve been busy all year. Covid19 has changed everything. There are no more book signings, everything is virtual now. I hope one day, we can get back some of what we used to have. I enjoyed the road trips, meeting other authors and readers. It was fun.

So, what have I been up to? Writing and promoting. Almost since I began writing I’ve wanted to be a part of an anthology. For those who don’t understand what that is… an anthology is a collection of stories by different authors released in one book. It’s usually on sale as a Kindle ebook for a limited time, then taken off all publishing platforms so the authors can release their works individually.

I finally found an anthology I wanted to be part of. I also had a story I was working on nearing completion that could be used for the anthology. That is how The Awakening of Amelia found its way into Sinners and Saints, Collection of Romantic Interludes.

This was a completely different way of promoting and marketing for me. Suddenly, I’m in the middle of a lot of different authors, the count eludes me, it keeps changing. Now, I have a list of groups I have to post weekly. Not bad, I can handle that. Then, the takeover parties began. Okay, I’ve done that before. I’ve got this. Only there are a LOT of these parties, and they aren’t going to end until the book releases in January. Thank goodness one of the authors taught me how to schedule my posts. That little gem has been a total lifesaver. These parties aren’t always on my days off. In fact, this past weekend I had two parties in one day. I would have never managed it if I hadn’t been able to schedule things ahead of time.

The best part of this has been the readers. I’m new to them and they’re curious about my books. Thankfully, I have two amazing cover artists who have given me eye-popping covers that catch everyone’s attention. Believe me, it helps. Sales are picking up and I couldn’t be happier.

The Awakening of Amelia has been completed, edited, and turned over to those in charge of Sinners and Saints. The book will release Jan. 12, 2021. You can pre-order now for only 99 pennies. If you haven’t already, you can get it HERE.

In Feb 2021 I will release The Awakening of Amelia as a standalone novella. I added a few extra scenes, so you have something to look forward to.

Which leaves me with Fated Journey, book six of The Kindred. I’m currently working on Meghan’s story now and it’s starting to come together. I’m really excited about this one and can’t wait to see where it takes me. Yeah, writing as a pantser leaves everything wide open. I have no idea what’s going to happen until I sit down to write.

Goodness, I just saw my word count. LOL Didn’t mean to run off like that. Anyway, that’s what’s been going on in my corner of the world.

I’ll try to get back on track with blogs and newsletters.

Until next time,

~Madison
